Setup & configuration
Company settings, chart of accounts, VAT and bank feeds configured for how you actually trade — not the default template.
QuickBooks Online
One accountant for your books and the software they live in. Whether you're starting fresh, switching over, or untangling a file that's got away from you — fixed fees and plain English, from Derby or entirely online.
Why an accountant?
QuickBooks makes bookkeeping faster — once it's configured for your business. Most of the messy files I'm asked to fix weren't caused by the software, but by a rushed setup: the wrong VAT scheme, a generic chart of accounts, or bank rules quietly filing things in the wrong place.
What I do in QuickBooks
Company settings, chart of accounts, VAT and bank feeds configured for how you actually trade — not the default template.
Moving from Desktop, Sage, Xero or spreadsheets with every balance reconciled before switch-over.
How migrations workUnreconciled accounts, duplicates and suspense entries sorted, and any backlog brought up to date.
Plain-English sessions for you and your team, plus a one-page cheat sheet for everyone's desk.
Your books kept current in QuickBooks, with a monthly snapshot of profit, cash and who owes you.
Pay runs, payslips, pensions and RTI filings handled in QuickBooks Payroll or alongside it.
The right VAT scheme set up, returns checked and filed to HMRC straight from QuickBooks.
A direct line for "it's doing something odd" moments — answered by the accountant who knows your file.
Not sure where you stand?
In the free 30-minute review I look through your file with you on screen-share and tell you plainly what's fine, what needs fixing, and what it would cost.
The things I check first:
Who it's for
Every business gets a chart of accounts, VAT setup and reports shaped around its trade.

We look at your QuickBooks file — or your plans for one — and agree what you need.
A written quote listing exactly what's included. The price doesn't move unless the work does.
The work done, you trained, and a direct line to me whenever QuickBooks surprises you.

Common questions
No. We'll work out which subscription fits your business in the free review — many small businesses pay for features they never use. I'll help you set up the right plan.
Yes — it's one of the most common requests. I'll review the file, fix what needs fixing for a fixed fee, and take it on from there.
Always. It's your QuickBooks subscription and your data. I'm added as your accountant user, and you can remove that access at any time.
No — Xero, Sage and FreeAgent are fine too. If another package suits you better, I'll say so. See the software support section for more.
